The foods that grew in plentitude.
Tomatoes and onions
And tinned sardines.
Pomegrenates the neighbours gave.
We made do with piss-poor wine
And simple things
Like love was, before words.
He was a rare good man.
And I considered marrying him
Not because I was in love
